mafabet Heavy rains to dampen several Luzon areas on Christmas Eve

Updated:2024-12-25 06:58 Views:199

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau issued a heavy rainfall warning on Christmas eve in several parts of the country due to the effects of the shear line.

The shear line is a product of warm and cold winds meeting, triggering rain and thunderstorms.

According to House Resolution 2050, lawmakers became aware of the issue after receiving a complaint from Mary Jane Rodrigo-Hallasgo and Amatorio Rodrigo, members of the Manobo Tribe, saying that Philsaga has been denying the indigenous peoples’ rights to their ancestral land in Bunawan.

He was also found guilty of malversation under Article 217 of the Revised Penal Code, for which he received a sentence of reclusion perpetua—20 to 40 years imprisonment—and a fine of P393 million, the amount embezzled.

As of December 24, the heavy rainfall is in effect in Quezon, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, and Northern Samar. PAGASA said that the aforementioned areas can experience “heavy to intense” rains, which can amount to 100 to 200 millimeters

Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rain is expected in Aurora, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Eastern Samar, and Samar. This translates to 50 to 100 millimeters.

On Christmas Day itself, PAGASA said that a similar heavy rainfall advisory will be issued again due to the shear line.

Rainy areas

Here is a list of areas forecast to have a rainy holiday on December 25.

Heavy to intense rains: Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Quezon, and Aurora Moderate to heavy: Isabela, Metropolitan Manila Fourth District, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Marinduque, Romblon, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar

“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall. The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property,” PAGASA said.

The northeast monsoon is also set to trigger rain in other parts of the country.

“Malaking bahagi pa rin po ng ating bansa ay makakaranas ng ulan dulot ng epekto nitong dalawang weather system,” said PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres in the agency’s daily weather forecast.

Cloudy skies

Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Bulacan, and Nueva Ecija will experience cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon.

The rest of Luzon is also affected by the northeast monsoon but with “no significant impact.”

No potential cyclone formations. The weather bureau is currently not monitoring any cyclone or low pressure area within the Philippine area of responsibility, Torres said.

However, a gale warning has been issued over Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Banhui, Burgos, Pasuquin), the northern and eastern coasts of Polillo Islandsmafabet, and the northern and eastern coasts of Catanduanes.
